Today NVCA issued a formal statement criticizing proposals to delay or repeal the Global Warming Solutions Act or AB 32 in the state of California. The push to roll back this legislation, which was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2006, is largely driven by regulated entities who stand to lose under AB 32's directive to lower emissions and develop renewable energies. It wrongly preys on economic fears and, in fact, would do significant economic harm to the California economy if repealed.  More details about the NVCA's position on this issue can be found here.

It is critical that California continues with its commitment to developing clean technologies or the state will risk stranding those start-up companies that have acted in good faith in bringing important innovations to market. If you are a resident of California, be sure to contact your state legislator and let them know that you support the ongoing implementation of AB 32 because it will create more green jobs and help our country move towards a long term sustainable energy environment.
